Summer On-Campus Program

Shaping a Changing World:
Girls as Scientists, Social Entrepreneurs, Artists, Activists, and Leaders

July 12th to August 6th, 2021

The world must change and fortunately THE FUTURE IS FEMALE.

Day student program on the beautiful Miss Porter's School Campus in Farmington, CT

In this four week, interdisciplinary program for day students, young women will be inspired and empowered to become leaders and change-makers and will be given the tools to help solve the pressing problems facing the world. Students will engage with the Miss Porter’s faculty and experts in the field as they learn about the following four challenges faced by our world today:

Alongside these studies, students will work through core modules on topics such as leadership, entrepreneurship, design thinking, ethics, and activism in order to develop necessary skills needed to make change in one of the four challenges.

During the second stage of the program, students will do a deep dive into one of the four challenges  they have studied and then design, workshop, and prepare to launch their own social enterprise aimed at addressing a problem in their chosen area.  Students will build and present a working model or prototype of their solutions, and ultimately pitch their proposed social enterprise to a panel of experts.

In addition to this main course of study students will work on small-group projects addressing a single strand, in which they will consult directly with experts in their fields, and with whom they will share their final work.  Final projects may be based on:

Our program focuses on providing inspiring, hands-on experiences with a unique integrated approach to STEM and the humanities through an interdisciplinary lens that reflects the truly interconnected nature of our world.
